How to Setup MT4 MetaTrader4 Notification Email Alert to Text SMS Alerts

So, you have an Expert Advisor that you want to send you Text SMS Alerts instead of simply a popup and email?

I have had so many people ask me how to do this, so I wanted to create a post how you can easily receive text sms notifications from your favorite MetaTrader4 MT4 Expert Advisors

Step 1 – Open a Gmail Account

The reason that I suggest using Gmail to send notifications through is because it is the most reliable SMTP server and easy to configure when setting up text sms notifications as well.

Step 2 – Options on MetaTrader 4

Open your MT4 charting platform by going to Tools > Options and click on the Email Tab

The SMTP login and the From fields are identical and should reflect the Gmail account you set up in Step 1. The To field is where you want your emails to go, example – your private email address where you want your MT4 email alert to be sent.

Click OK

After you have completed this step restart your MT4 MetaTrader 4.

Step 3 – Test Your Setup

Once your MT4 has restarted, go back to Tools > Options > Email and click on Test

Step 4 – Setting Up Your Text SMS Notifications

Ok, so now you will need to setup a forwarding address to your phone number.

Go to Gmail > Settings > Forwarding and Pop/IMAP

Add a forwarding address

You will need to find out what your cell phone provider’s email is – here is a reference that should help you out.

US Cellular [10-digit phone number]email.uscc.net (SMS)
Example: 1234567890@email.uscc.net

Verizon [10-digit phone number]@vtext.com
Example: 1234567890@vtext.com

Virgin Mobile USA [10-digit phone number]@vmobl.com

Ok, now add a filter under settings to forward to your cell phone

I personally put in mine – Has the words = Expert Advisor
